The Truth About Leadership

Sent by Lauren Jane Heller    |    April 29, 2022

This week has been a wild ride. Getting Covid right after announcing my Clarity program meant that I stopped everything for a week… then, once the illness began to subside, I began to panic. Doubts and worries started flooding my mind. I watched myself spin out. All of the over-achiever stuff, all of the patterns of my childhood programming came surging into my mental space. It wasn’t pretty.

What if nobody wants to sign up?

You didn’t work hard enough.

You should have started outreach sooner.

You need a bigger audience.

These thoughts almost got me.

And then I slowed down and remembered that I have the tools to bring myself back. These are some of the very same tools I teach in the Clarity program and being able to use them in real time in real life is such a great reminder of why I do the work I do.

Great leaders are not always getting everything right. Great leaders have moments of self-doubt (or panic!). What sets them apart is that when things get hard, or confused, or go wrong, they are able to bring themselves back to clarity by asking good questions and tapping into what they are really committed to.

I am deeply committed to helping women to bring more joy and success into their lives.

That’s what drives me. That’s what drives the work I do. So I sat down and thought about why I was beginning to panic. I got clear that the new structure of the program didn’t feel quite right, and so, I have shifted it.

The clarity program is now a 12-week deep dive into leadership, communication, focus, storytelling and more. There is more space for the participants to integrate what they learn. There are three extra calls for group connection, questions and practice. The price remains the same but there’s a whole lot more value. This feels so good.

It feels good knowing that this work is truly changing lives.

It feels good knowing that I get to learn and grow through the process of becoming a better marketer and leader.

It feels good remembering that every time I stumble, I get to pick myself up and see what happened — look at what tripped me up and learn from it.

Building a business is full of surprises. So is life. Sometimes the surprises feel unpleasant, and that’s okay.

Learning to deal with uncertainty and stay focused is one of the topics we cover deeply in Clarity.
