Are You Ready to SHINE?

Sent by Lauren Jane Heller    |    May 13, 2021

What are you called to do? Do you even know?

Have you taken time to think about what it is that you are doing when you’re at your best?

Have you thought about how you are being when you are with others — whether you’re changing yourself, turning the volume up or down, wearing different hats, different skins based on what you assume other people want from you, want you to be? Or are you being your unmasked, unadulterated self, confident that what you bring is what needs to be here?

Do you give yourself permission to be messy and vulnerable? Or if you’re a person who shows up messy by default, have you considered whether you’re being present or if the messiness is actually you creating drama and drawing attention to yourself?

There are so many ways we get in our own way. So many moves we use to protect ourselves from the assumed danger of showing our true selves to others. So many ways our egos keep us safe by keeping us small or fake or afraid.

You believe in unspoken rules. You feel boxed in by norms and etiquette. You find yourself smashing up against walls left and right: I can’t do that. I should do this. I shouldn’t be so ________. I should be more ________.

But you’re incredible. You’re smart and thoughtful. You have great ideas. You’re passionate. You have so much to offer, if only…

If only, you could stop making mistakes

You had more time

You had more money

If only, you could keep that voice in your head quiet

You could find the courage to do what you’ve always wanted

You could stop caring so much about what other people think

If only, you could find a way to make money doing what you love

You could get other people to see it your way

You could find a trustworthy partner

If only you could figure out what it is that you’re really supposed to be doing, everything would be amazing. Right?

So here’s the thing. All of those “if only”s are excuses. Every single one of them. I know. I’ve used all of them to justify why things weren’t going the way I wanted them to, to justify why I wasn’t staying true to myself, to justify why I was paying more attention to what I thought other people thought than to I wanted — what felt right for me deep inside.

And then I broke the cycle. So can you. Anyone can.

You can look at the fear head-on and acknowledge it’s there. You can learn to recognize the obstacles, the limitations, the shoulds you put in the way. You can step into living the powerful, joyful life you dream.

Maybe you could do it on your own. I know that I need support. I needed a community to show me what it looks like to be in integrity. To be integrity. I needed coaches and teachers and guides to give me tools and show me what it looks like to live in alignment with oneself.

That it’s constant work

That there’s no destination

That there’s always more to explore

I belong to these communities and feel called to create more.
